The patronal feast of Bieno in Valsugana
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The San Biagio Festival is the most anticipated event of the year for Bieno, a village of a few hundred inhabitants nestled at an altitude of 815 meters on the plateau overlooking the Valsugana, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. Saint Blaise, celebrated by the Church on February 3rd, is the town's patron saint: around this date, the small community of Bieno organizes a day of celebration that weaves religious tradition with the warmth of mountain hospitality.
The festival takes place in Piazza Maggiore, in the historic center of the village, and comes to life starting at noon. Falling during the Carnival period, the celebration is filled with masks and cheer, in a blend typical of Trentino villages where the patron saint's feast and carnival festivities overlap. Music, entertainment, and the joy of gathering in the square in the heart of winter make the day a moment of strong cohesion for the Bieno community.
The festival is managed by the Bieno Volunteer Firefighters, a corps deeply rooted in village life, as is the case in many Trentino municipalities. They handle the organization, manage the stalls, and welcome guests, turning the patronal feast into an opportunity to support the volunteer corps' activities. It is a model of community participation that gives the San Biagio Festival its authentic and familiar character.
The delicious heart of the day is found at the food and wine stalls, where visitors can savor traditional Trentino dishes and products, accompanied by musical performances. Plenty of space is dedicated to the little ones, with entertainment and activities for children that make the festival an event suitable for the whole family.
Nestled between Castel Ivano, Pieve Tesino, and Scurelle, Bieno is a natural balcony overlooking the Valsugana, a land of forests, meadows, and ancient farming traditions. Visiting the San Biagio Festival means discovering the most genuine soul of this corner of Trentino, where village festivals still preserve the slow and sincere rhythm of small mountain communities.
