About Saint Vincent Festival

The Festa di San Vincenzo is a popular and religious festival that enlivens Castignano, a small village in the province of Ascoli Piceno, in the heart of the Marche region. Traditionally held in mid-May, it combines the devotional dimension with the convivial one, with community gatherings, music, and typical gastronomy of the Piceno territory. It is one of the events that, alongside the famous Historical Carnival and Templaria, mark the calendar of Castignano's festivals among the hills and badlands of Monte Ascensione.

A Popular Festival in the Village of Castignano

The Saint Vincent Festival takes place in Castignano, a charming medieval village perched on a tuff spur in the province of Ascoli Piceno, in the Marche region. It is a mid-May event that intertwines religious devotion with community celebration, following a deeply rooted tradition in the small towns of the Piceno area, where each district and hamlet cherishes its own celebrations linked to venerated saints.

Between Devotion and Conviviality

Like many festivals in the Marche villages, the celebration combines liturgical moments – masses and processions – with a more convivial and popular aspect, featuring food stalls, music, and opportunities for residents and visitors to gather. It is an occasion to rediscover the flavors of Piceno cuisine and the warm hospitality of a town that makes tradition its distinctive feature.

Castignano, Land of Festivals

Castignano is famous for its Historical Carnival of Castignano, documented since 1615, and for the grand medieval re-enactment Templaria Festival in August. The municipal territory includes several historic hamlets and districts – including San Venanzo, San Martino, Ripaberarda, and Castiglioni – which liven up the Palio dell'Addolorata in September. In this context rich in identity, the Saint Vincent Festival represents one of the most heartfelt moments of the Castignano spring.

The Landscape of the Badlands

The village stands on the edge of the Park of the Badlands and Monte Ascensione, a unique landscape of eroded clay and sweeping views of the Piceno hills. Participating in the festival also means immersing oneself in one of the most characteristic glimpses of the Marche hinterland, far from the most beaten tourist routes.

Detailed information on the program, times, and precise location of the festivities is disseminated by local organizers shortly before the event. It is advisable to check the dates and program with the Municipality of Castignano or community channels before traveling.
