The Saint Roch Festival is celebrated in Quinzano, a hillside hamlet in the northwestern part of Verona, at the foot of Monte Cavro. Its origins date back to the late 1400s when the community entrusted itself to Saint Roch as a protector against the plague: an uninterrupted tradition that makes this festival one of the city's longest-running.
The religious moment
The heart of the festival is the solemn mass on August 16th, Saint Roch's day, in the church dedicated to him, with the blessing of the bread. On this occasion, the Saint Roch Award is presented, a historic recognition for associations and organizations involved in social work.

Every evening from 7 PM, the Brao Cencio kitchen offers traditional Veronese dishes: risotto al tastasal, bigoli with ragù, polenta with pike, salt-cured meat with polenta, and zero-kilometer grilled meats. A journey into the authentic flavors of Quinzano and Veronese cuisine.

The 547th Saint Roch Festival is expected in mid-August 2026 in Quinzano di Verona, continuing an uninterrupted tradition since the late 15th century. The central moment will be, as tradition dictates, the solemn mass on August 16th in the church of Saint Roch, with the blessing of the bread and the awarding of the 55th Saint Roch Award to an organization committed to social causes. Every evening from 7 PM, the Brao Cencio kitchen will offer traditional Veronese dishes — risotto al tastasal, bigoli with ragù, polenta with pike, salt-cured meat, and grilled meats — alongside concerts and cultural evenings. The detailed program will be announced by the Saint Roch Committee in the weeks preceding the festival.

How to get there
Quinzano is located northwest of Verona, on the hills overlooking the city. It can be reached by car and city buses; the church of Saint Roch is the focal point of the celebrations.
