Valtellina's Ferragosto in Aprica

The Saint Mary Assumption Festival is the celebration that enlivens Aprica, a well-known mountain resort in the province of Sondrio, every Ferragosto. Now with about twenty-five years of tradition, it takes place at the S. Maria Sports Field and celebrates the patron saint, Mary Most Holy Assumed, in the heart of the Valtellina summer, combining devotion, gastronomy, and popular celebration.

Valtellinese Cuisine, Music, and Fireworks

The heart of the festival is food and wine: you can taste excellent dishes of Valtellinese cuisine accompanied by the region's fine wines, all enhanced by live music. The most anticipated moment is the fireworks display which, starting at 11:00 PM, lights up the Aprica skies. The celebration kicks off in the afternoon of August 14th with entertainment for children, including baby dance and inflatables, and continues late into the night with dancing.

A Community Celebration

The festival is the result of collaboration between the Pro Loco, the Tourist Office of the Municipality of Aprica, the Alpini Group, the Parish of Santa Maria Assunta, and numerous local organizations and volunteers. It is one of the most cherished events of the Aprica summer, capable of attracting residents and tourists vacationing in Valtellina to experience the magic of Ferragosto together.
