About Saint Margaret Celebrations

In July, Refrontolo (Treviso) celebrates its patron saint, Saint Margaret, with a festival that blends devotion, tradition, and the identity of the Prosecco territory. Among the most cherished events are the Palio delle Botti (Barrel Race), a challenge between districts along the village streets, and Aperipasso, a food and wine walk through the vineyards. Organized by the Pro Loco of Refrontolo, it's a community festival that showcases the village's strong connection to its wine.

The Patron Saint's Feast

The Saint Margaret Celebrations are the patronal feast of Refrontolo, a village in the Prosecco hills in the province of Treviso. It takes place in July, around the feast day of the patron saint, and is organized by the Pro Loco of Refrontolo with the support of the municipal administration.

The Barrel Palio and Aperipasso

The heart of the festival is the Palio delle Botti (Barrel Race), a challenge between districts where "pushers" roll large barrels along the village paths: a spectacular competition that is part of the national circuit promoted by the "Cittร  del Vino" (City of Wine) association. Alongside the Palio, the Aperipasso is a food and wine walk through the vineyards, with stops and tastings along the route, complemented by a food stand and live music.

Prosecco Identity

Refrontolo is famous for its Refrontolo Passito wine and is located in the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore territory. The Saint Margaret Celebrations express the strong identity of this corner of the Marca Trevigiana, where popular faith, traditional sport, and wine culture merge into one grand festival.
