The first festival of the year in the Feltrino area, featuring steaming tripe and alpine tradition
When the Belluno January is still wrapped in cold, the hamlet of Umin, nestled between Villabruna and Feltre, in the heart of the Belluno province, opens the festival season with the Saint Marcellus Festival. It's an event eagerly awaited by the entire valley: the first fair of the year, which brings together villagers and visitors under a large heated marquee to gather around good mountain cuisine.
The undisputed queen of the table is tripe, prepared both 'alla parmigiana' (with tomato sauce and cheese) and in broth, according to the tradition that links this festival to the winter ritual of a hot dish. Alongside it, the kitchen offers boiled pita bread, canederli dumplings, fried soppressa sausage with polenta, cotechino sausage with side dishes, and homemade desserts. The kitchen is open daily from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with takeaway available from 10:00 AM.
The event is organized by the Gruppo Alpini Villabruna together with the association Amici del Casel, and combines conviviality with religious and cultural dimensions. During the festival days, there will be concelebrated Holy Masses, guided tours of the charming Saint Marcellus chapel, and entertainment for children. There's also the San Marcello Run, a run-walk that takes participants along the trails around the hamlet. The proceeds from the festival are used for the maintenance of the Saint Marcellus church and for socio-cultural activities in the area.
From January 14th to 18th, 2026, under the heated marquee in Umin, the Saint Marcellus Festival offered its proven formula of Belluno gastronomy and community moments. The heart of the festival was the tripe in broth or 'alla parmigiana', accompanied by boiled pita bread, canederli dumplings, fried soppressa sausage with polenta, and cotechino. Guided tours of the Saint Marcellus chapel and Holy Masses marked the days, culminating in the lottery draw on the final evening.
Umin is a hamlet of Feltre (BL), reachable by car from Feltre in a few minutes towards Villabruna. The nearest train station is Feltre, on the Padova–Belluno line.
The kitchen is open every day of the festival from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM (takeaway from 10:00 AM).
Free entry; food and drinks are paid for according to the festival menu.
