The patronal festival of Mariano del Friuli between faith, gastronomy, and music
In the heart of the Isontina plain, amidst the vineyards that make the Gorizia Collio famous, the municipality of Mariano del Friuli annually celebrates its patron saint with the Saint Gottard Festival. It is the town's quintessential patronal feast, a four-day event that combines religious observance with conviviality, drawing residents and visitors from across the province of Gorizia.
The heart of the festival is the recreational area at the municipal gym, where food and wine stalls are set up, offering specialties of Friulian tradition and local wines. Between courses, the program alternates between Briscola card games, DJ sets, markets, tombola (bingo), and live music events, with tribute bands and dance nights animating the days until late evening. There are also activities designed for the little ones, with games and workshops that make the festival suitable for the whole family.
Alongside the festive aspect, the festival retains its religious significance. The celebrations in honor of the patron saint culminate in the following days with the Holy Mass and procession, moments of deep community participation, to which a concert in the Parish Church is added. This signifies a festival that, despite its entertainment dimension, maintains a strong link with its roots of faith.
The result of the work of the town's associations and volunteers, with the support of the Municipality of Mariano del Friuli, the Saint Gottard Festival is one of those events that tell the soul of small Friulian towns: the desire to be together, to share good food, and to renew traditions from generation to generation.
From April 30 to May 3, 2026, Mariano del Friuli celebrates its patron saint with the Saint Gottard Festival, in the recreational area at the municipal gym. Food and wine stalls, live music, markets, and activities for children animate the four days, followed by religious celebrations on May 5 and 9.
Mariano del Friuli is located in the province of Gorizia, reachable from the SS56 and local roads connecting Cormons and Gradisca d'Isonzo. The festival takes place in the recreational area at the municipal gym.
Free admission. Food and drinks are paid for at the stalls.
