Saint Felix the Martyr, co-patron saint of Civitanova del Sannio

In addition to the patron saint Saint Bernardino, Civitanova del Sannio (IS) venerates Saint Felix the Martyr as co-patron saint, celebrated at the end of August with three days of festivities, from August 28th to 30th. It is one of the most beloved events in the Alto Molise village, attracting residents, tourists, and many emigrants who return to their hometown for the summer.

Three days of celebration

The traditional structure of the festival spans three days. August 28th is historically linked to the livestock fair, with animals and merchants along the valley slopes; the eve of August 29th opens with a band parading through the village streets; August 30th, the solemn day, is dedicated to masses, the long procession with the urn and statues of the saints, traditional attire, and concludes in the evening with a band concert and fireworks.

Faith, art, and gastronomy

The festival of Saint Felix highlights all aspects of local culture: religious faith, art, local products, and regional gastronomic specialties. It is organized by the cultural association Civitanovesi nel Mondo, founded in 2009 to promote events that preserve Molise's traditions and maintain the bond between the village and its emigrants scattered around the world.
