The co-patron of Macchia Valfortore celebrated on May 14th, between faith and fair
On May 14th, Macchia Valfortore, a municipality in the province of Campobasso located in the Fortore valley, celebrates Saint Boniface the Martyr, the town's co-patron. The parish church houses the relics of the saint, making this festival a deeply devotional event for the community.
The religious celebration is accompanied by a fair that enlivens the village streets, following a tradition that combines the sacred and the profane, typical of Molise festivals. On the occasion of the anniversary, the Molise Passport visits Macchia Valfortore with a guided tour of the village, helping to promote the historical and cultural heritage of the town and the Fortore region.
The Saint Boniface festival is the ideal opportunity to discover Macchia Valfortore, overlooking Lake Occhito, and its Ecomuseum dedicated to the home, trades, and culture of memory.
Also in 2026, Macchia Valfortore celebrates its co-patron Saint Boniface the Martyr on May 14th. The celebrations take place in the parish church, which houses the saint's relics, accompanied by the traditional village fair.
