Enego's patron saint festival combining folklore, taste, and transhumance
Enego, the easternmost of the Seven Municipalities of the Asiago Plateau, annually celebrates its patron saint Saint Giustina with one of the most cherished festivals in the Vicenza area. The event, held between late September and early October, intertwines religious devotion with popular and rural traditions, creating a weekend of great community participation.
The most exciting moment is the transhumance: the return of the herds from the high-altitude pastures, particularly from Malga Valmaron and the Marcesina plateau, back to the village. The cows, adorned with festive decorations, descend to the center of Enego accompanied by the Drum and Flag Group, in a scene deeply rooted in the alpine culture of the Plateau.
The program includes the captivating Woodcutters Competition, with wood-cutting and working challenges, the Briscola Tournament with a memorial dedicated to Mauro Bussolaro, and the opening of the Scaliger Tower with guided tours organized by the Dalla Brenta all'Ortigara association. The food stand offers local specialties, including cod and pork knuckle, while live music accompanies the evenings.
The Sagra di Santa Giustina is organized with the involvement of the Municipality of Enego and the Pro Loco, and it represents a unique opportunity to discover the traditions of the Seven Municipalities, alpine folklore, and the flavours of the Venetian mountains.
The 2026 edition of the Sagra di Santa Giustina and Transumanza will take place in Enego between late September and early October, coinciding with the patron saint festival. The program follows tradition: transhumance from the mountain pastures, woodcutting competitions, tournaments, visits to the Scaliger Tower, and a food stand with local specialties. The official dates will be communicated by the organizers closer to the event.
Indicative program based on recent editions; final times and dates will be available on the official festival page.
Enego can be reached by car from the Valsugana valley (Primolano exit) or from the Asiago Plateau. Parking is available near the center.
Free admission. Food stand operates on a consumption basis.
