Fiera delle Anime

Almost four centuries of history

The Fiera delle Anime in Arsiè, in the province of Belluno, is one of the oldest trade fairs in the region. Its roots date back to the Middle Ages, but the fair was officially sanctioned in 1666 by Pope Alexander VII. The tradition originated from the custom of exchanging animals and agricultural tools during visits to the graves of loved ones, hence the name linked to the "souls" (anime).

The fair today

It takes place on the third Sunday of October along the streets of the town center and attracts about 40,000 visitors each year, revitalizing the entire Feltrino area. At the agricultural and forestry hub, you can admire modern and older agricultural machinery, go for a horse ride, or talk to industry professionals. There are also demonstrations of traditional crafts – chair caning, wool spinning, sheep shearing – alongside sculptors, painters, and engravers.

Tradition, culture, and music

Alongside the large market, the Fiera delle Anime offers historical reenactments around the Chapel of San Michele, musical bands, and groups of artists, as well as numerous refreshment stands. Organized by the Municipality of Arsiè and the Pro Loco Arsiè, the event has maintained its historical and cultural value, returning to its origins and promoting the traditions of the Belluno area.
