In the hamlet of Preara, in Montecchio Precalcino (Vicenza), the Sagra di San Rocco is the patronal festival that brings the community together at the end of summer, after Ferragosto. It takes place at the Parco degli Alpini, in Via Preara, and is one of the most deeply rooted sagre (local festivals) in the Alto Vicentino area.
Spit-roasted specialties
The heart of the festival is traditional Vicenza cuisine: spit-roasted torresani (pigeons, a symbol of local gastronomy), gargati col consiero, bigoli, gnocchi, and "poenta onta" (creamy polenta). The food stand, accompanied by local wines and craft beers, is the meeting point in the evenings, enlivened by music and entertainment.
Community and tradition
Organized by the Pro Loco of Montecchio Precalcino with the Municipality and the Veneto Region, the Sagra di San Rocco combines the religious aspect of the patron saint with the convivial dimension of village festivals. Among the initiatives, there is also a charity raffle. Admission is free.
Sagra di San Rocco — edition 2026
Following the trend of previous editions, the Sagra di San Rocco is also expected in 2026 in the hamlet of Preara, usually in the second half of August, after Ferragosto. The food stand with spit-roasted specialties, music, and entertainment for families will return. The precise dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been published by the Pro Loco.
