The August festival in Castelnovo

Among the summer festivals of Isola Vicentina, in the province of Vicenza, the one dedicated to San Lorenzo in the hamlet of Castelnovo is one of the most beloved for its generous cuisine. It takes place at the Area Verde San Lorenzo in mid-August, around the saint's feast day (August 10th), and attracts many visitors from the nearby towns of the upper Vicenza area every year.

A cuisine that doesn't disappoint

The heart of the festival is the food stand, which opens from 7:30 PM (from 7:00 PM on Saturdays and from 6:00 PM on Sundays) and offers hearty specialties: goulash with potatoes, tripe, gnocchi with ragù or tomato sauce, porchetta, and the characteristic spicy chicken wings. To complete the evenings, there are orchestras and ballroom dancing, the true soul of Venetian village festivals.

Tradition and community

The event is organized by the Associazione COASI of Isola Vicentina, which manages the entire calendar of Isola's August festivals, and takes place with free admission. It is an event that keeps alive the identity of the Castelnovo hamlet and the very Venetian custom of gathering, with good food and music, on warm late summer evenings.
