The festival of Campagnano

The Sagra di San Rocco is the most anticipated event of the summer in Campagnano, a hamlet of Maccagno con Pino e Veddasca suspended between the mountains and Lake Maggiore, in the province of Varese. For three days, the small community gathers around the church of San Rocco and its panoramic square to celebrate the saint and experience an authentic festival together.

Gastronomy, music, and devotion

The sagra (traditional festival) combines the three souls of village festivals: typical gastronomy, with stalls offering local traditional dishes; music and entertainment that liven up the evenings; and religious moments dedicated to San Rocco, a protector invoked for centuries. All this in a natural setting of rare beauty, with a view opening onto Lake Maggiore.

A corner to discover

Campagnano is one of those mountain hamlets that preserve the genuine charm of the Varese hinterland. Reaching the sagra also means discovering a panoramic viewpoint and a village with a secluded atmosphere, far from the large tourist flows, where the festival retains the flavor of traditions of the past.

A community festival

Organized by the Amici di Campagnano (Friends of Campagnano) together with the Pro Loco Maccagno (local tourist board) and the Municipality, the Sagra di San Rocco is an event born from the grassroots, from the commitment of volunteers and the attachment of the inhabitants to their village. A mid-August event that, year after year, renews the bond between the hamlet of Campagnano, its saint, and the Lake Maggiore area in the province of Varese.
