The festival of the Dal Pozzo hamlet

In Ceriano Laghetto, in the province of Monza and Brianza, the Dal Pozzo hamlet celebrates its patron saint, Saint Michael the Archangel, every end of September with a sagra (festival) that is now a historic tradition. Now in its many editions, the festival takes place around the Dal Pozzo Civic Centre, in Via Carso, and culminates on September 29th, the saint's liturgical feast day.

Faith and tradition

The religious dimension is central: the festival opens with a prayer meeting and continues with solemn masses, up to the mass for all the deceased on the concluding Monday. Sunday, the main day, begins with the morning mass, in an alternation of moments of reflection and celebration that is characteristic of Brianza's patronal festivals.

Gastronomy, dancing and fun

Alongside the religious aspect, the sagra offers a rich popular program: the food stand, dancing evenings with group dances and Latin American music, sports demonstrations — such as kickboxing — and charity fishing. There are also games for children, in a festive atmosphere that involves all generations of the hamlet and the town.

The Sagra di San Michele is the moment when the Dal Pozzo hamlet comes together around its traditions. Organized with the involvement of the Municipality of Ceriano Laghetto and local entities, the festival represents an identity event for the community, which every autumn renews the bond with its patron saint and with the typical village spirit of Brianza.
