Four districts challenge each other with allegorical floats and pedal-powered machines
The Palio di Meda is the most heartfelt and defining festival of Meda, a Municipality in the Province of Monza and Brianza. Founded in 1977, the Palio pits the four historic districts of the city—Belgora, Bregoglio, Fameta, and San Giuann—against each other in a goliardic challenge that involves generations of Meda residents for entire weeks. The organization is handled by the Associazione Palio di Meda with the support of the Municipality.
The heart of the event is twofold: on one hand, the spectacular race of pedal-powered machines, and on the other, the grand parade of allegorical floats. Each district builds its own floats and prepares its choreography inspired by the theme of the year, which changes with each edition. It's a competition of creativity, ingenuity, and team spirit that keeps the entire city on the edge of its seat.
The Palio is not just the parade: for days, the districts liven up Meda with games, music, food, and initiatives of all kinds. The evenings leading up to the Palio turn into a succession of challenges, convivial moments, and district parties, fueling the friendly rivalry between the neighborhoods and strengthening the sense of belonging.
With almost fifty years of history, the Palio di Meda is now a heritage of the Brianza community. It involves citizens of all ages, from children to the elderly, and represents the time of year when Meda recognizes itself in the colors and traditions of its districts. An event that intertwines play, folklore, and civic pride.
The 2026 edition of the Palio di Meda (MB) has the theme "What are we doing tonight?", which inspires the choreography and constructions of the four districts Belgora, Bregoglio, Fameta, and San Giuann. The parade of allegorical floats is scheduled for Sunday, September 14th at 2:30 PM. The event, organized by the Associazione Palio di Meda with the support of the Municipality, unfolds over several days with races, games, music, and district food.
