The patron saint's festival in the village of murals, amidst the Cadore Dolomites
The Sagra di San Lorenzo is the most cherished summer event in Cibiana di Cadore, a small municipality in the province of Belluno nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, at the foot of Monte Rite. The subtitle "il Borgo che Racconta" (The Village that Tells Stories) is no accident: Cibiana is known as the paese dei murales (village of murals), because since the 1980s the facades of its houses have become canvases for painters who have depicted the village's memory, the trades of the past, and the stories of local families.
The festival revolves around the figure of San Lorenzo, celebrated on August 10th, the night of shooting stars. Religious devotion merges with community spirit: the two days of the sagra are a time when the village comes together, and when the many summer visitors who choose the Cadore region for their holidays are welcomed among the stalls and squares of the historic centre.
The sagra is organised by the Pro Loco of Cibiana di Cadore and offers typical mountain cuisine, musical performances, and opportunities for socialising for all ages. A simple and authentic formula, where the true protagonist remains the village itself, with its murals to be explored on foot and the Dolomite backdrop that changes colour at sunset.
Visiting Cibiana during the Sagra di San Lorenzo means combining two experiences: discovering one of the most original villages in the Cadore region, where art has become part of daily life, and participating in a genuine village festival, far from mass tourism, in the heart of the Dolomite summer.
The Sagra di San Lorenzo โ Cibiana il Borgo che Racconta returns in 2026 on Saturday August 9th and Sunday, August 10th, as confirmed by communications from Cadore Dolomiti and the Pro Loco. The festival is centred in the historic heart of Cibiana, among the frescoed houses that have made the village famous.
For 2026 too, the programme blends the religious dimension of the San Lorenzo festival with the conviviality of the sagra: gastronomic stands with typical Cadore dishes, musical moments, and an invitation to discover the mural itinerary. It is a family-friendly village festival, designed for residents and holidaymakers alike.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be published by the Pro Loco of Cibiana di Cadore in the weeks preceding the festival.
Dates and general structure confirmed; times and programme details to be updated.
