Almost three and a half centuries of patron saint's festival in the Bergamo plains
The Sagra di San Giuliano is the heart of Ciserano's year, a municipality in the Bergamo plains in the province of Bergamo, located between Treviglio and Orio al Serio airport. The patron saint's festival, dedicated to Saint Julian, has its roots in 1678, making it one of the oldest in the area: almost three and a half centuries of history are renewed every September.
The sagra unfolds over about ten days, from mid-September until the saint's day, September 21st. The program combines piazza parties, shows, moments of reflection and faith, exhibitions, and entertainment. The saint's day, a Sunday, is the richest: market stalls, itinerant shows, traditional games, a solemn mass with a procession, and in the evening, a fireworks display that enchants young and old. Among the civic events is the awarding of the "Giulianini d'oro" (Golden Giulianini), awards that recognize the commitment of Ciserano's citizens.
Ciserano is located in the lower Bergamo plains, in the province of Bergamo, in a dynamic area close to major road junctions and the airport. The Sagra di San Giuliano, with its long history, is an occasion for the community to rediscover its identity and traditions.
The Sagra di San Giuliano returns to Ciserano in September 2026, following a tradition dating back to 1678. The event will unfold as usual over about ten days, until the patron saint's day on September 21st, with piazza parties, shows, moments of faith, markets, traditional games, a procession, and the grand final fireworks display. The complete hourly program, with exact dates, will be published by the Municipality of Ciserano and the parish in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Municipality of Ciserano and the parish of San Giuliano closer to the festival.
Based on recent editions, the sagra is structured as follows:
