Sagra dellu Pizzillu 2025

The festival returned to Orvinio, in the province of Rieti, on Monday, December 8, 2025, in the usual setting of Piazza del Comune. The event was highlighted by the main festival and event guides of Lazio as one of the gastronomic highlights of the Immaculate Conception long weekend in the Rieti area.

The stand and the dish

From 12:00 PM, the volunteers of the Pro Loco of Orvinio opened the food stand with the tasting of lu Pizzillu, accompanied by water or wine and a dessert. The dish, an unleavened pizza stuffed with chicory or broccoli rabe, sausage, and pancetta, was also offered in simpler versions with olive oil, aromatic herbs, cheeses, and typical local cured meats.

Around the table

The day was rounded out by craft markets, folk music, and traditional performances along the alleys of the historic center, with convivial moments and activities designed for families. As in previous years, the organizers had set up a covered and heated structure to cope with the cold typical of the village's 840-meter altitude.
