The fried frog festival in the village of Selci
The Sagra della Ranocchia is one of the most established summer festivals in the Upper Tiber Valley: it takes place in the hamlet of Selci, in the municipality of San Giustino (Perugia), and has surpassed forty editions, a sign of a deep connection with the local community.
The absolute star of the sagra is fried frog, a specialty of peasant tradition that gives the event its name. At the food stalls, alongside the frogs, you can enjoy numerous other dishes of Umbrian and Upper Tiber Valley cuisine, in a journey of flavours that is the true heart of the festival.
In addition to gastronomy, the Sagra della Ranocchia offers theatre performances, music evenings, and the traditional fireworks, which attract crowds from all over the area. A very important event for Selci and for the entire San Giustino territory, where conviviality, tradition, and village celebration merge on warm July evenings.
The 2026 edition, the 42nd, of the Sagra della Ranocchia returns to Selci from July 9 to 12. The formula that has made the festival popular is confirmed: the food stalls with fried frog and local dishes, theatre performances, music evenings, and fireworks. The detailed program, with evening shows, will be released by the Pro Loco in the weeks prior.
