In Struppa, a hamlet in the upper Val Bisagno in Genoa, summer brings a festival that goes beyond Ligurian tradition to cross the Pyrenees: the Sagra della Paella e Sangria. In Piazza Giuliano Suppini, the volunteers of the G.A.U. Association prepare paella, the famous Spanish rice dish, accompanied by sangria.

The event is one of many organised throughout the year by the G.A.U. Association (Giovani Amici Uniti), a local volunteer group very active in the social life of Struppa. The festival combines gastronomy with community building, featuring musical entertainment and the convivial atmosphere of village festivals.

Struppa can be reached by going up the Val Bisagno from Genoa; Piazza Giuliano Suppini is served by AMT buses towards Struppa. By car from Molassana and Prato.
