The Sagra dell'Uva di Pontida is the late September event that celebrates the grape harvest and the wine culture of Valpontida, in the province of Bergamo. Organised by the Pro Loco, it takes place at the town's Feste Area and attracts thousands of visitors each year eager to taste local products and experience the authentic atmosphere of a village festival.

Flavours of Bergamascan tradition

Cuisine is one of the souls of the festival. At the stalls, you can taste typical dishes such as casoncelli, pizzoccheri, polenta and rabbit, casöela with polenta and snails, accompanied by local wine. Each evening offers a different menu, in a gastronomic journey that tells the peasant tradition of Valpontida and the Bergamasca region.

Country music and peasant traditions

The Sagra dell'Uva di Pontida has a particular focus on country and bluegrass music, with concerts animating the evenings at the Feste Area. Alongside the music, the programme includes the traditional grape stomping, ancient games, activities for children and families, and the photographic competition "Pontida and its colours", bearing witness to a deep connection with the village's landscape and identity.

In the village of the Oath

Pontida is famous throughout Italy for the Oath of 1167, when the Lombard communes allied against Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. The Sagra dell'Uva adds to this ancient history a popular and rural face, made of wine, flavours, and conviviality.
