The bigoli and flavours of the Monte Cucco Park in Costacciaro
In the village of Costacciaro, in the province of Perugia, at the foot of the Monte Cucco Regional Park massif, one of the most beloved food festivals in the area returns every mid-August: the Sagra dei Bigoli e dei Prodotti del Parco del Monte Cucco. Organised by the Pro Loco of Costacciaro, the event attracts over 1,500 people each year and has made the work of volunteers its distinctive feature.
The signature dish is bigoli: a long, rough pasta, similar to spaghettoni, traditionally made with flour, water, and salt, today enriched with an egg for every kilo of flour. Its rough surface perfectly holds the sauce, offered in three versions: tomato sauce, ricotta, and white ragù (in limited edition). Alongside the bigoli, the stalls promote the typical products of the Monte Cucco area.
The festival has obtained the "Sagra di Qualità" (Festival of Quality) mark since 2019 and has been awarded "Sagra Eccellente dell'Umbria" (Excellent Festival of Umbria), acknowledgements that attest to the commitment to promoting the territory and attention to sustainability, with biodegradable tableware and renewable energy for the stage.
The evenings combine good food and entertainment: dance orchestras, musical performances, and tribute shows liven up the dance floor, while children have inflatables and play areas. It is possible to book a table on the dance floor and order online until 6 PM. An evening in Costacciaro during the festival is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Umbria, amidst the beech forests and trails of Monte Cucco.
The 32nd edition of the Sagra dei Bigoli is confirmed in Costacciaro from August 17 to 19, 2026, according to the regional calendar of Umbrian festivals. The festival takes place in the Sports Facilities area of the town and reintroduces the proven formula: bigoli served with tomato sauce, ricotta, or white ragù, accompanied by products from the Monte Cucco Park.
The detailed program for the 32nd edition will be announced by the Pro Loco of Costacciaro in the weeks preceding the event. Based on recent editions, the structure includes:
