The Arrosticini Festival at the Station

In the hamlet of Sant'Agapito Scalo, near the railway station in the province of Isernia, early September marks one of the most delicious and anticipated events: the Sagra degli Arrosticini. The event is held for the feast of Santa Maria Bambina and celebrates the iconic dish of Apennine pastoral cuisine: arrosticini, the skewers of sheep meat cooked over embers.

Good Food, Music, and Fun

The festival spans two evenings with food stalls and live concerts. The quantities sold speak to the event's success: approximately 9,000 arrosticini were sold in the 2025 edition, indicating steadily growing public participation. Between barbecues, the crowd is swept away by the music of the bands and the DJ set that concludes the evenings.

An Established Tradition

Although tied to the hamlet, the Sagra degli Arrosticini di Sant'Agapito Scalo has become a draw for the entire surrounding area over the years, located near the Matese mountains. It's a late-summer event that combines the religious dimension of the Santa Maria Bambina feast with a convivial and gastronomic celebration, an evening of festivity for the community and visitors.
