Celebrating the patron saint of Ciampino through faith, tradition, and community
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is the patron saint of Ciampino, a city in the Metropolitan City of Rome, in the Lazio region, just outside the Castelli Romani area. The Patronal Feast dedicated to him is the most anticipated event of the year for the local community. Traditionally held on the third Sunday after Pentecost, it fills the days of June with religious celebrations and festivities that bring the entire city together.
The heart of the festival remains deeply religious. The schedule includes solemn masses, moments of prayer, and the traditional Sacred Heart procession, which winds through the neighborhood streets, involving parishioners, local associations, and families. Alongside the spiritual aspect, the community offers a program designed for all ages, featuring cultural initiatives, charity events, and entertainment.
The festivities revolve around the Sacred Heart Parish, its oratory, and the adjacent courtyard, but also extend to Piazza della Pace and the surrounding streets, which are transformed into lively event spaces. Visitors will find food stalls, live music, comedy performances, and dance evenings, along with games and activities for children. It is a true community festival where the involvement of volunteers and local families is an integral part of the atmosphere.
One of the most awaited highlights is the vintage motorcycle rally organized by the Motoclub Ciampino, which brings historic vehicles and enthusiasts onto the streets on the final day. The festival concludes in style with the raffle drawing and a spectacular fireworks display that lights up the sky over Ciampino, bidding farewell to the patron saint until next year.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Patronal Feast is organized by the Parish Festival Committee, in collaboration with the local Pro Loco and under the patronage of the Municipality of Ciampino. More than just a celebration, it is a precious opportunity to strengthen community bonds and experience one of the defining traditions of the Castelli Romani territory.
The 2026 edition of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Patronal Feast took place in Ciampino from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, June 14, 2026, with the main events concentrated over the weekend between the Sacred Heart Parish, the oratory, and Piazza della Pace.
Alongside the religious appointments, including holy masses and the traditional procession, the program offered music, shows, and gastronomy for all ages.
During the preceding days, religious services, the Sacred Heart procession, and activities for children and families took place.
Events are concentrated at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, its oratory, and Piazza della Pace in Ciampino (Metropolitan City of Rome, Lazio), as well as the surrounding streets.
Ciampino is easily accessible from Rome by train via the regional line Roma Termini-Ciampino (FL4-FL6) followed by local connections, or by car via the Via Appia Nuova. The city is also home to the Rome-Ciampino international airport.
Participation in the festival and shows is free; food stalls and the raffle require payment. Traffic diversions may be in place during the procession and evening events.
