Sacre Note a Collepardo

A journey through sacred music between Collepardo and the Certosa di Trisulti

Sacre Note a Collepardo is a sacred music festival promoted by the Municipality of Collepardo, the local Pro Loco, and the LS Diffusione Culturale association, selected as part of the Lazio Region Sacred Music Festival. The project has made Collepardo the only municipality in the Ciociaria region to be a proponent of the regional festival, a prestigious recognition for this small village nestled in the Ernici Mountains, in the province of Frosinone.

The venues: historic churches and a thousand-year-old monastery

The festival transforms the town's places of worship into natural concert halls. The first events take place in the churches of the historic center—the Church of SS. Salvatore, the Church of SS. Trinità, and the Church of the Consolazione—while the heart of the festival beats within the walls of the Certosa di Trisulti, an extraordinary monastic complex founded in the 13th century and immersed in the beech forests of the Ernici. The acoustics of these spaces, combined with their spiritual power, restore sacred music to its original dimension.

The repertoire: from Gregorian chant to the Stabat Mater

The program spans centuries of devotional music history: Gregorian chant and its re-elaborations, the Renaissance polyphony of Palestrina, the famous Stabat Mater by Pergolesi and other sacred traditions, along with pieces for choirs, chamber orchestras, and soloists. Each concert is entrusted to local and national choirs, ensembles, and masters, with a particular focus on the dialogue between liturgical tradition and contemporary interpretations.

A project for the local area

The festival was created with the goal of reviving the great tradition of Italian sacred music and enhancing the artistic and landscape heritage of the Ciociaria. The events are free to attend until capacity is reached, designed for a wide audience: classical music lovers, the faithful, tourists, and curious visitors who wish to discover Collepardo, its churches, and the Certosa di Trisulti through listening.

Collepardo, also famous for the Grotte di Pastena and the Pozzo d'Antullo, is an ideal destination to combine music, nature, and spirituality. The Sacre Note festival thus fits into a broader narrative of the lesser-known Lazio, that of mountain villages, monasteries, and the religious traditions that have marked its history.
