Sabaudia Half Marathon

The classic autumn race of the Pontine region

The Sabaudia Half Marathon is a staple in the autumn road racing calendar of southern Lazio. Organized by the UISP Territorial Committee of Latina in collaboration with the Municipality of Sabaudia, it takes place every November, reaching its 24th edition in 2026. The race attracts hundreds of runners from Lazio and neighboring regions who choose Sabaudia to wrap up their season or as a final test before the Latina Marathon, for which this race serves as the traditional prelude.

The route: from the town square to the sea

The start is set in Piazza del Comune, in the heart of Sabaudia’s rationalist center. The course begins with a 6 km loop through the streets of the planned city, then heads toward the Bufalara area and reaches the coastal road, where runners enjoy views of the dunes and the sea on one side and the striking Circeo promontory on the horizon. The distance is the classic half marathon, 21.097 km, on a largely flat and fast course, ideal for those chasing a personal best.

The 10 km, an accessible challenge for everyone

Alongside the half marathon, there is a 10 km race that shares the first part of the course: around the third kilometer, participants in the shorter distance turn onto Strada Sant'Andrea and head back toward the finish line. This format has boosted participation in recent years, allowing amateur runners and seasoned walkers to enjoy a day of sporting celebration between the city and the sea.

Sabaudia, a planned city in the Circeo National Park

Running in Sabaudia means traversing one of Italy’s most famous 1930s planned cities, renowned for its rationalist architecture, while also experiencing one of the most evocative coastal landscapes in Lazio. The town sits on the edge of the Circeo National Park, nestled between Lake Paola, the dunes, and the long beach facing the promontory. For many runners, the trip becomes a weekend getaway to discover the Pontine coast during a quiet season, far from the summer crowds.

Organization and the UISP spirit

The event is managed by the UISP committee of Latina, which oversees registrations, chip timing, refreshment stations along the route and at the finish, medical assistance, and awards, with the support of the Local Police, Carabinieri, and Civil Protection to ensure course safety. The spirit is that of "sport for all" typical of UISP: alongside competitive runners, the race welcomes running clubs, amateur groups, and athletes with disabilities in a festive atmosphere that involves the entire Sabaudia community.

A growing appointment

Edition after edition, the Sabaudia Half Marathon has solidified its format: in 2025, it saw over 500 athletes at the starting line across the two distances. With the patronage of the Municipality and the involvement of local sports clubs, the race is now a premier autumn showcase for the entire Pontine territory and the Lazio Region.
