Bean soup and a children's carnival in the heart of the Biella region
The Ronco Biellese Carnival is one of the most cherished winter events in the small town of Ronco Biellese, located in the Province of Biella, in the heart of Piedmont. Far from the spectacular parades of larger carnivals, this festival preserves the authentic spirit of the community: everyone gathers at the town's sports complex to share a meal, entertain the children, and enjoy a day of joy together.
The highlight is the fagiolata, a bean soup that has accompanied carnival celebrations across the Biella area and much of Piedmont for generations. Prepared in large cauldrons and served at the sports complex starting at lunchtime, it is much more than just a dish: it is a collective ritual rooted in ancient peasant customs, when a committee would go from house to house collecting beans, cured meats, and firewood for the feast. Today, the fagiolata remains the thread that connects yesterday's traditions to today's community.
In the afternoon, the festival takes on the vibrant colors of costumes with the children's carnival: games, entertainment, confetti, and streamers transform the sports complex into a space of pure fun for the little ones. It is the festive heart of the day, designed for families from the town and neighboring municipalities.
Ronco Biellese is a village tied to the tradition of ceramics and pailet, which is celebrated in autumn with the Pailet Festival. The carnival, organized by the Pro Loco of Ronco Biellese, is another key element of the town's social life, which offers exhibitions, courses, and cultural initiatives throughout the year. Participating in the Carnival means discovering the most genuine face of a territory that makes conviviality and popular traditions its hallmark.
On Sunday, February 15, 2026, Ronco Biellese (BI) celebrated its carnival day at the town's sports complex. The festival, organized by the Pro Loco, confirmed the tried-and-tested formula that attracts local families every year: the community lunch with the traditional fagiolata and, in the afternoon, entertainment dedicated to the little ones.
Program confirmed by the local Biella press.
The event takes place at the sports complex of Ronco Biellese (BI), in Piedmont.
By car: Ronco Biellese is easily reached from Biella in a few minutes along the provincial roads of the Cervo Valley. By train: the reference station is Biella, connected to Novara and Santhiร , from where you can continue by local transport.
The Carnival is held in February, during the carnival season. The fagiolata is served starting at lunchtime, while the children's carnival takes place in the afternoon. For details on times, reservations, and the cost of the fagiolata, it is best to contact the Pro Loco of Ronco Biellese.
