International dance competition and folklore festival in the heart of Rome
The Rome Fest Info Dance, paired with the 5th International Folklore Festival in Rome, is an international event that brings dance groups and folklore ensembles from numerous European and international countries to the Italian capital every March. The event takes place in Rome, in the Lazio region, and is promoted by the Fest Info network, a member of the EAFF - European Association of Folklore Festivals, one of the leading international networks dedicated to folklore and dance festivals.
At the heart of the event is the dance competition, which welcomes an extraordinary variety of disciplines: from Open to contemporary and modern, from classical ballet to jazz, musical theater, folk, tap, acro, and b-boying, along with other disciplines including cheerleading and majorettes. The competition is organized by formation type (solo, duo/trio, groups of 4-10 dancers, and ensembles of 11-30) and age group, from the youngest children to seniors, ensuring all levels and generations are celebrated.
Alongside the competition, the 5th International Folklore Festival in Rome brings together folklore ensembles, choral groups, orchestras, and modern dance troupes. Each group presents a 10-15 minute performance, using their own live or recorded music. Over the years, the festival has hosted delegations from dozens of countries, ranging from Eastern Europe to the Mediterranean and Asia, making Rome a vibrant meeting point for diverse cultures and folk traditions.
The event's format blends artistic performance with the exploration of Rome. The multi-day program alternates competition days with tours of the city's greatest landmarks, from the Colosseum to the Trevi Fountain, with optional excursions to the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel, Naples, and Tivoli with Villa d'Este. For young dancers and their companions, it is an experience that weaves a passion for dance with the discovery of the capital's artistic heritage.
At the end of the competition, diplomas and medals are awarded to all dancers, with trophies for groups and formations (awarding first to third place) and special accolades, including vouchers for free participation in other festivals across European cities. It is a unique opportunity for schools and companies to grow and compare their skills in an international context within one of the world's most fascinating cities.
From March 12 to 15, 2026, Rome hosted the Rome Fest Info Dance alongside the 5th International Folklore Festival in Rome, with delegations of dancers and folklore ensembles from various countries. The competition took place on a 10x10m dance floor. Performance times: solo, duo/trio (1-2 minutes), groups (2-3 minutes), formations (3-4 minutes).
Rome is easily accessible by train via the Roma Termini and Roma Tiburtina stations, by plane via the Fiumicino and Ciampino airports, and by car via the main motorways converging on the Grande Raccordo Anulare. The event is itinerant, with base camps in partner hotels throughout the city and surrounding areas.
Registration is reserved for groups and ensembles; information regarding fees, accommodation packages, and application procedures is available through the organizers, Fest Info and EAFF ([email protected]).
