About Stelle di Roma

Stelle di Roma is an international folklore, dance and music competition and festival that brings groups, ensembles and soloists from all over the world to the Italian capital every summer. Set against the backdrop of the Eternal City, from the opening ceremony at the Theater of Rome to the evocative parade of participants in the Vatican, young artists of all ages compete before an international jury, sharing folk traditions and diverse cultures in a spirit of mutual respect.

An international festival in the heart of Rome

Stelle di Roma is an international competition and festival dedicated to folklore, dance and music, held in the capital, within the territory of the Municipality of Rome, in the Lazio region. Promoted as part of the European EAFF (European Association of Folklore Festivals) network, the event attracts folk groups, dance ensembles, choirs, orchestras and soloists from numerous countries to the Eternal City, all united by the desire to share their folk traditions.

The Eternal City as a stage

Rome, with its millennial heritage ranging from the Colosseum to the majesty of the Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel, provides a unique setting for the event. The opening ceremony is held at the "Theater of Rome" and one of the most anticipated moments is the parade of participants in the Vatican, with traditional costumes from different countries coloring the city streets. The festival thus transforms some of the capital's iconic landmarks into a grand open-air spectacle of cultures.

Competition categories

The competition is open to soloists, duets, small groups and ensembles, divided by age groups ranging from the youngest ("Mini Kids", 6-8 years old) to the "Seniors" category (over 50). Numerous disciplines are accepted:

  • folk and traditional dance groups;
  • dance and ballet ensembles;
  • vocal groups, choirs and orchestras;
  • theatre, fashion schools and "small forms";
  • soloists and duets in various specialties.

Each performance is evaluated by an international jury that awards diplomas, medals, trophies and the Grand Prix to the winners; teachers also receive recognition.

A bridge between cultures

The goal of the event is to discover new talent, enhance their skills and foster a dialogue between different multicultural traditions based on mutual respect. For young artists, Stelle di Roma represents an opportunity to perform before a Roman audience and to experience an exchange with peers from other countries in one of the most fascinating cities in the world.

The July edition

The event features a double summer schedule: in addition to the July appointment, there is a twin edition held at another time of the year. The 8th edition of the July event is scheduled from July 31 to August 2, 2026, renewing the encounter between peoples through music, dance and folklore.
