The first Italian leg of the historic international dance competition founded in Berlin
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
TANZOLYMP Italia is the Italian edition of one of the most prestigious international dance competitions for youth, the TANZOLYMP, which originated in Berlin and has become a European benchmark for dancer training over the years. This inaugural Italian edition brings the event to the heart of Rome, in the Lazio region, on the historic stage of the Teatro Quirino Vittorio Gassman, just a short walk from the Trevi Fountain.
Under the motto "Dance as a universal language," the competition fosters dialogue between students, teachers, and major figures of the international scene, with the goal of giving new momentum to dance and identifying the most promising talents to advance to the TANZOLYMP Berlin finals.
The competition is open to young dancers from professional and private schools who compete in various categories, divided by age group (from children to young adults):
Each participant performs before an international jury composed of school directors, choreographers, and รฉtoiles. For the Italian leg, the reference personality is the รฉtoile Eleonora Abbagnato, while the event is promoted by the Berlin-based PraBesTime Production in collaboration with choreographer Nicola Marino.
What sets TANZOLYMP apart is not only its competitive nature. During the competition days, participants have the opportunity to take part in high-level masterclasses held by jury members and prominent figures in contemporary dance. It is an occasion for growth and direct exchange with renowned masters, an added value that makes the experience educational as well as competitive.
Up for grabs are gold, silver, and bronze medals, diplomas, cash prizes, and special recognitions. The brightest talents can earn scholarships and invitations to prestigious European ballet institutions, in addition to qualification for the final stage of TANZOLYMP Berlin, an international showcase for the discipline.
The choice of the Teatro Quirino, one of the capital's historic theaters, places the competition in a setting of great charm. For a few days, Rome becomes a crossroads for young dancers from various European realities, confirming the city's international vocation and enriching the cultural calendar of the Municipality of Rome and the Lazio Region with an event dedicated to the new generations of dance.
At the moment, the organizers have not yet confirmed official dates for a new Italian leg of the TANZOLYMP in Rome in 2026. The event maintains its traditional link with the international final of the TANZOLYMP Berlin, scheduled for 2026. We recommend checking for updates on the official website to learn about dates, venue, and registration procedures as soon as they are announced.
Teatro Quirino Vittorio Gassman, Via delle Vergini 7, 00187 Rome (corner of Via Minghetti), a few steps from the Trevi Fountain.
Metro: Line A, Barberini or Spagna stop, then a short walk. Bus: Numerous lines stop near Piazza Venezia and Via del Tritone. Given the location in the historic center, we recommend reaching the theater by public transport.
Participation in the competition is reserved for registered schools and dancers; information on registration fees, deadlines, and procedures is published on the event's official website. For the public, we recommend checking access to the performances on the official website.
