International Argentine tango festival in the heart of Rome
tanGO TO Rome is one of the most important international Argentine tango festivals in central Italy. Every November, the event brings the warmth of Buenos Aires milongas to the capital, attracting dancers, masters, and DJs from all over Europe and Argentina. Born as a meeting point for the Roman tango community, the festival has grown with each edition to become a benchmark event for enthusiasts of the porteño embrace.
The program spans five days packed with activities: workshops and seminars with world-famous master couples, evening milongas that continue until the first light of dawn, live shows, master performances, and a tango competition that energizes the weekend. The format combines educational and social dimensions, allowing both beginners and experienced dancers to find their place on the dance floor.
The heart of tanGO TO Rome lies in the Argentine master couples—some of the most respected names on the global tango scene—supported by a selection of Italian and international DJs (musicalizadores) who accompany every milonga with the great traditional tandas, from Di Sarli to D'Arienzo. The evening shows offer the audience performances of the highest technical and emotional level.
Set within some of Rome's most evocative dance venues, in the Municipality of Rome and the Lazio region, the festival is also an opportunity to experience the capital: many participants arrive from abroad and combine their passion for tango with exploring the city. The milongas take place in welcoming venues such as hotels and dance halls, designed to ensure spacious floors and an atmosphere with attention to every detail.
The 2026 edition of tanGO TO Rome offers five days of Argentine tango, from Wednesday to Sunday, featuring evening milongas, workshops for all levels, seminars for professionals, master performances, and a tango competition. Activities take place at Hotel Aurelia Antica, The Living, and Hotel Capannelle in Rome.
Four couples of Argentine masters lead workshops and performances: Facundo Piñero & Vanesa Villalba, Neri Piliu & Yanina Quiñones, Diego Ortega & Aldana Silveyra, Lucas Gauto & Naima Gerasopoulou.
Every evening, a milonga with different DJs accompanies dancers until late at night, from the opening on Wednesday to the Saturday Gala Milonga, which continues until five in the morning.
