An evening dedicated to love among the medieval districts of Santa Fiora, on the slopes of Mount Amiata
The Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy is one of the most anticipated national events promoted by the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy. Established in 2015, it transforms hundreds of small historic centers into scenes suspended in time, where the beauty of alleys and squares meets the warmth of human connection. Participating villages glow with lights and candles for an evening entirely dedicated to love and romance. The theme chosen for the 2026 edition is "Love for Memories".
Among the featured villages is Santa Fiora, a jewel of Mount Amiata in the Province of Grosseto, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. On June 20, 2026, the village's historic center will dress up for its most evocative evening, with a program that weaves together spirituality, taste, and music.
Awarded the Orange Flag by the Touring Club and included in the list of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy, Santa Fiora is an ancient village first mentioned in a document from 833. It was the capital of the county of the same name, first under the Aldobrandeschi family and later under the Sforza and Sforza Cesarini, functioning for centuries as a small autonomous state. The historic heart is divided into three districts: Castello, Borgo, and Montecatino.
It is precisely in the Montecatino district that one of the town's iconic landmarks is found: the Peschiera, a splendid 16th-century garden park built by the Aldobrandeschi to raise trout and renovated by Guido Sforza in the 16th century. Next to it stands the Church of the Madonna delle Nevi, famous for its glass floor through which one can see the source of the Fiora River gushing forth. It is in this church that, during the Romantic Night, a Mass is celebrated with the blessing of couples and their wedding rings with the spring water.
The Romantic Night is not just an Italian affair: on the same occasion, associations of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, Spain, Wallonia (Belgium), and other countries organize similar initiatives in their respective territories, making this evening a celebration dedicated to the identity and heritage of small towns.
The event is part of the broader summer calendar of the Municipality of Santa Fiora, organized in collaboration with the Pro Loco and local associations, celebrating the village's membership in the network of Italy's most beautiful centers.
For the 2026 Romantic Night, Santa Fiora celebrates the national event of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy with an evening spread throughout the historic center, themed "Love for Memories." It starts at 6:00 PM in the Church of the Madonna delle Nevi, at the Peschiera, with Holy Mass and the blessing of wedding rings using pure water from the Fiora spring. From 6:30 PM, in Piazza Garibaldi, "A Romantic Journey" begins, featuring tastings of local products and special discounts at shops, with wine tastings from five local cellars curated by ONAV Grosseto. At 7:30 PM, a guided tour leads to the discovery of the historic center and the Peschiera, starting from the Town Hall. The evening will be accompanied by live music from the Filarmonica G. Pozzi.
The program takes place in the districts of Santa Fiora's historic center, in collaboration with the Pro Loco and local associations. For detailed schedules and updates, it is recommended to check the official channels of the Municipality of Santa Fiora.

Saturday, June 20, 2026, from the afternoon until the evening.
Admission to events promoted by the municipal administration is free. The historic center is largely pedestrianized: it is advisable to arrive a little early to find parking in the areas outside the village.

Wear comfortable shoes for the cobblestone streets of the districts and bring a light jacket for the evening, as it can be cool at this altitude. Don't miss the visit to the Peschiera and the Church of the Madonna delle Nevi, the romantic heart of the evening.
