The international festival and fair for classical and acoustic luthier guitars
Every March, in the Trevi district just a stone's throw from the iconic Trevi Fountain, the Eternal City hosts Roma Expo Guitars, Italy's most significant festival and fair dedicated to handmade classical and acoustic guitars. Within the elegant setting of Roma Eventi Fontana di Trevi in Piazza della Pilotta, luthiers, musicians, dealers, and enthusiasts from across Italy and abroad gather for three days entirely devoted to the six-string instrument.
What sets Roma Expo Guitars apart from standard trade shows is its unique hybrid nature. On one hand, it is an exhibition where dozens of luthiers showcase their instruments in soundproofed testing rooms; on the other, it is a true festival featuring evening concerts by internationally acclaimed soloists and an intensive educational program.
The academic core is driven by the International Musical Academy (European Music Academies) project, which brings professors from prestigious European conservatories—including Vienna, Basel, Lucerne, Karlstad, and Innsbruck—to Rome, alongside over fifty selected students for masterclasses and public-facing lessons.
One of the most anticipated initiatives is the Limited Edition guitar project: each exhibiting luthier crafts a unique instrument specifically for the event, creating an exclusive collection for the public to admire and play. A dedicated area also hosts the acoustic section, featuring luthiers specializing in fingerstyle and modern acoustic guitars.
With the participation of international dealers and some of Europe's most renowned builders, Roma Expo Guitars has established itself as a continental benchmark for classical and acoustic guitar culture. For one weekend, the Eternal City, in the Municipality of Rome and the Lazio Region, becomes the meeting point for an international community united by a passion for sound and the art of instrument making.
The 2026 edition, the fourteenth, confirmed Roma Expo Guitars as one of the most important European events dedicated to the concert guitar. Alongside the luthier exhibition and soundproofed testing rooms, the program featured demonstrations of classical Limited Edition guitars with Edith Pageaud and acoustic ones with Giovanni Baglioni, as well as International Musical Academy masterclasses with over fifty students from six European conservatories. The highlights were the evening concerts by Irina Kulikova (Friday) and Zoran Dukic (Saturday), two of the most acclaimed performers on the international guitar scene.
Throughout the event: 14 international dealers, the 30 Limited Edition 2026 guitars built by exhibiting luthiers, the acoustic guitar spin-off with 10 specialized luthiers (Sunday), and International Musical Academy masterclasses with 7 professors and over 50 students from 6 European conservatories.
Roma Eventi Fontana di Trevi, Piazza della Pilotta 4, 00187 Rome (Trevi district), just a short walk from the Trevi Fountain and the Quirinal Palace.
Admission is by ticket, valid for all three days; evening concerts require a separate ticket. Reduced rates are available for children and young people.
