The Rome Baroque Festival is one of Italy's most significant events dedicated to Baroque, early, and sacred music. Since its inception, the festival has brought some of the most celebrated international performers and ensembles of the early music repertoire to the historic center of Rome, in the Lazio region, turning each edition into an itinerary that combines musical listening with the discovery of the capital's artistic heritage.

The festival's uniqueness lies in its choice of venues: not mere concert halls, but historic churches, monasteries, and palaces in the center of Rome, from the Monastery of Trinità dei Monti with its Refectory of the Minims to the church of Santa Maria dell'Anima, from the church of San Salvatore alle Coppelle to the splendid Sant'Agnese in Agone overlooking Piazza Navona, and even the Sala della Regina of the Chamber of Deputies. In these spaces, the acoustics and architecture engage in a dialogue with 17th and 18th-century music, restoring the atmosphere for which this repertoire was originally conceived.

A program with international reach

The schedule features a series of concerts ranging from sacred polyphony to instrumental music, and from cantatas to secular serenades, with a special focus on great masters active in Rome such as Alessandro Scarlatti and the traditions of Palestrina and Frescobaldi. Over the years, the festival has hosted leading names in early music, including Jordi Savall with Hespérion XXI, the vocal ensemble Odhecaton, the Gesualdo Six, the Cappella Mediterranea, and numerous groups specializing in period instrument performance.
