About Musei in Musica

Musei in Musica is Rome's grand musical white night: for one evening, the city's civic museums stay open until late at night, transforming into vibrant stages. Over fifty venues host concerts, ensembles, performances, and guided tours, featuring more than one hundred events and hundreds of artists spanning jazz, classical, pop, sacred, and ethnic music. Admission is a symbolic one euro per museum, with the opening ceremony held in Piazza del Campidoglio.

A night of music among Rome's museums

Musei in Musica is the annual event that, typically held in late November, lights up Rome's civic museums with sounds and concerts. Promoted by Roma Capitale through the Capitoline Superintendency for Cultural Heritage and organized by Zรจtema Progetto Cultura, the festival transforms the city's museum network for one night into a widespread circuit of stages, where the capital's artistic and archaeological heritage meets live performance.

Over fifty museums open until late

For this occasion, more than fifty venues remain exceptionally open until 2:00 AM, with admission at the symbolic cost of one euro (free for Roma MIC Card holders and free of charge where explicitly indicated). Participating venues include some of the city's most beloved sites: the Capitoline Museums, the Ara Pacis Museum, Trajan's Markets, the Centrale Montemartini, the Museum of Rome, the Villa Torlonia Museums, the Napoleonic Museum, and many others, distributed across the First Municipality and throughout the city.

One hundred shows, genres for every taste

The program usually features over one hundred events with the participation of more than one hundred and fifty artists. The musical selection is intentionally diverse, ranging from jazz to classical music, pop to sacred music, swing to film soundtracks, and ethnic and choral music. Concerts, instrumental ensembles, performances, and guided tours follow one another in halls and courtyards, offering the public a unique way to experience museums after sunset.

The inauguration at the Campidoglio

The evening traditionally begins in Piazza del Campidoglio, the institutional heart of the city, where the Rome Capital Local Police Band officially kicks off the event. From there, the public can move freely between the various museums, crafting their own nocturnal itinerary through art and music.

A signature event for the Capital

Launched in 2011, the festival has become one of the most anticipated events of the Roman autumn and a symbol of the city's cultural vocation. With its accessible and widespread format, Musei in Musica brings a broad and diverse audience closer to the heritage of the Civic Museums, confirming itself as a model for heritage promotion in the Municipality of Rome, in the Lazio region.

Musei in Musica โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Musei in Musica, the sixteenth, has not yet been officially announced by Roma Capitale. The event is typically held in late November and involves over fifty civic museums in the capital with a single, long night of concerts and performances. Detailed dates and the program will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event.

The sixteenth edition of Musei in Musica is expected, as per tradition, for late November 2026 in Rome's civic museums. At the moment, Roma Capitale and Zรจtema Progetto Cultura have not yet released the official dates or the program. The established format includes over fifty venues open until late at night, more than one hundred musical events, and the inauguration in Piazza del Campidoglio. The full program, including the list of museums, artists, and times, will be published by the organizers closer to the event.
