The premier summer music festival in Rome, held between the Ippodromo delle Capannelle and the Cavea dell'Auditorium
Rock in Roma is one of the most established musical highlights of the Italian summer. Launched in 2009, the festival transforms the Ippodromo delle Capannelle on the Via Appia Nuova into a massive open-air stage, drawing thousands of spectators to Rome from all over Italy. Alongside the historic Capannelle venue, the Cavea dell'Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone hosts more intimate and visually stunning performances.
The 2026 edition, the sixteenth, took place from June 9 to July 18, featuring seventeen concerts spread across the two stages. The lineup reaffirmed the festival's diverse spirit, blending classic rock, singer-songwriter sets, pop, and urban music into a single, cohesive program.
With its itinerant format across two iconic city landmarks, Rock in Roma has become a cornerstone of summer nightlife in the City of Rome and the entire Lazio region. The evenings at the Capannelle, set within the lush grounds of the racecourse along the Via Appia, offer a spacious and informal atmosphere with food areas and open-air spaces. Meanwhile, the Cavea dell'Auditorium, designed by Renzo Piano, provides impeccable acoustics and a striking visual backdrop. It is a lineup that renews the connection between Roman audiences, tourists, and live music fans from across the peninsula every summer.
The 2026 edition of Rock in Roma featured seventeen live performances spread across the festival's two historic stages. The Capannelle hosted a mix of international rock and pop acts alongside Italian music stars, while the Cavea dell'Auditorium hosted some of the most anticipated evenings of the lineup.
The Ippodromo delle Capannelle is located at Via Appia Nuova 1245, south of Rome. By Metro: Take Line A to Colli Albani or Arco di Travertino, then a bus towards Capannelle. By car: Take the Appia exit from the Grande Raccordo Anulare; parking areas are available nearby. During the festival, a shuttle service (Eventi in Bus) connects the racecourse to Termini Station after the concerts.
Some performances are held at the Cavea dell'Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, at Viale Pietro De Coubertin 30. It can be reached via tram line 2 from Piazzale Flaminio and numerous bus lines.
Ticket prices vary by concert and are available online through the TicketOne network (ticketone.it) and the official website rockinroma.com. Shows generally take place in the evening, with start times in the early evening.
