The great annual gathering of Aosta Valley residents and emigrants
The Rencontre Valdôtaine is one of the most important identity events in the Aosta Valley: a summer day when Aosta Valley residents and emigrants returning for the holidays meet to reconnect with their homeland. Established by regional law and organized by the Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley, the event changes host municipality every year, touching different corners of the territory each time.
The day combines the institutional dimension with the festive one: alongside speeches by authorities and discussions with CO.FE.SE.V. (the federal committee of Aosta Valley emigrant societies), there are performances by choirs, bands, folklore groups, and socio-cultural initiatives. It is an opportunity to exchange memories, discuss current events, and celebrate together the belonging to the Aosta Valley community.
In 2026, the Rencontre Valdôtaine will reach the milestone of the 50th edition and will be held in Valtournenche, in the hamlet of Maën. An important anniversary for an event that has kept the identity of a region and its children scattered around the world alive for half a century.
The 2026 edition of the Rencontre Valdôtaine marks the fiftieth anniversary and will be held in Valtournenche, in the hamlet of Maën, where a multifunctional structure has been prepared to host the grand gathering day. An anticipated event that brings together the Aosta Valley community and its emigrants to celebrate half a century of the event's history together.
The detailed program for the 50th edition will be announced by the Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley in the weeks preceding the event. The usual structure includes a day with an institutional moment, performances by Aosta Valley choirs, bands, and folklore groups, socio-cultural initiatives, and convivial moments, followed the next day by a round table with emigrant societies.
Valtournenche can be reached from the A5 motorway (Châtillon-Saint-Vincent exit) and then the SR46. The hamlet of Maën is located along the road to Breuil-Cervinia.
The event is institutional and public, generally with free admission.
The Rencontre is traditionally held in the summer, on a Sunday.
