Vivaldi and L'Estro armonico at the Teatro della Società Agricola e Operaia in Mombaruzzo
The Regie Sinfonie Concert — Baroque Architectures: Inspiration and Rule brings the great music of the 18th-century Venetian tradition to the heart of the Asti Monferrato. The event takes place at the Teatro della Società Agricola e Operaia in Mombaruzzo, located at Via Giuseppe Saracco 4, and is part of the twentieth edition of the Regie Sinfonie festival, one of the longest-running and most acclaimed concert seasons in Piedmont.
The absolute star of the evening is Antonio Vivaldi with his famous collection L'Estro armonico (op. 3), published in Amsterdam in 1711 and considered a milestone of the Baroque concerto. The program features five concertos for one, two, and four violins, strings, and basso continuo, works that alternate intense melodic lines with a sweeping rhythmic charge, balancing melodic flair and formal rigor: the inspiration and rule that give the evening its title.
Two excellent ensembles meet on stage: I Musici di Santa Pelagia, a reference ensemble for early music repertoire in Piedmont, and the Voxonus Ensemble, which specializes in performance on historical instruments. The concert is led by violinist Maurizio Cadossi, a seasoned interpreter of the Baroque repertoire, who also performs the solo parts of the Vivaldi concertos.
Now in its twentieth edition, Regie Sinfonie is organized by the I Musici di Santa Pelagia association in collaboration with the "Giuseppe Verdi" Civic Institute of Music in Asti. In 2026, the season offers over thirty concerts across Asti, its province, and Emilia-Romagna, from May to December, visiting municipalities such as Agliano Terme, Calosso, Castagnole Monferrato, Ferrere, Nizza Monferrato, and, of course, Mombaruzzo. A program that weaves together classical music, the promotion of local territories, and historic sites of the Monferrato, a recognized UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Teatro della Società Agricola e Operaia is an intimate space with a strong sense of community, perfect for hosting Baroque chamber music. Mombaruzzo, a small town in the province of Asti also known for its traditional amaretti cookies, is part of the hilly wine-growing landscape of the Monferrato, in Piedmont, an ideal setting for an evening of music and culture.
The 2026 edition of the concert in Mombaruzzo took place on Saturday, May 30 at 5:30 PM as part of the twentieth season of Regie Sinfonie. The protagonists were I Musici di Santa Pelagia and the Voxonus Ensemble, under the direction of and featuring solo parts by violinist Maurizio Cadossi.
