The ultimate Chianti Classico weekend in the village of Radda
Every year, at the end of May, the village of Radda in Chianti (in the province of Siena, in the heart of Tuscany) dresses up for Radda nel Bicchiere, one of the most beloved wine events in the Chianti Classico region. Organized by the Pro Loco of Radda in Chianti in collaboration with the Radda Winemakers, the Chianti Classico Consortium, the local municipality, and local associations, the festival attracts enthusiasts and curious visitors from all over Italy for two days entirely dedicated to wine and the local territory.
The heart of the event is the picturesque Via Matteotti, the panoramic street that runs through the Renaissance village and transforms for the occasion into a long path of tasting stalls. Here, over one hundred labels presented by more than thirty local wineries await discovery: these are primarily Chianti Classico, the signature wine of these hills, an expression of a high-altitude terroir that yields elegant, fresh, and long-lived wines. With the glass purchased at the entrance to the village, you can move from stall to stall, engaging directly with the producers.
In addition to the open stalls, Radda nel Bicchiere offers a rich program of exclusive guided tastings led by sommeliers and industry journalists. Among the most popular offerings is Radda Vintage, a seated vertical tasting dedicated to older vintages of Radda wines, all aged at least eight years: a rare journey into the aging potential of these reds. Each edition also features a partnership with another Italian wine region, providing an opportunity to compare styles and identities.
An unmissable and highly anticipated moment is the blind tasting competition, now in its many editions, which tests the palates of enthusiasts and experts called upon to recognize wines without seeing the label. A challenge that is both fun and serious, typically concluding on Sunday with the awards ceremony for the most skilled participants.
Throughout the weekend, the restaurants and wine bars of Radda offer special menus designed to pair with the wines on tasting, and the booklet distributed with the glass becomes the ideal guide for navigating between wineries and local spots. Strolling through the village walls, amidst views of the vineyards and historic cellars, is an integral part of the experience: Radda nel Bicchiere is both a wine festival and an invitation to discover one of the most authentic villages in the Sienese Chianti.
The 2026 edition featured Trentino as the guest region, in a dialogue between the high-altitude elegance of Chianti Classico and the mountain wines of Trentino. Over one hundred labels were offered at the Viale Matteotti tasting stalls, with more than eighty wines available for tasting, presented by local wineries.
Radda in Chianti can be reached by car via the SR222 Chiantigiana; it is about 30 km from Siena and 50 km from Florence. The nearest train station is in Siena, from where you can continue by bus or car. The nearest airport is Florence-Peretola.
The tasting glass can be purchased at the entrance to the village for approximately 25 euros and grants access to the tasting stalls along Viale Matteotti. The exclusive guided tastings (seminars, Radda Vintage) require booking and have an additional cost.

We recommend arriving early to enjoy the village, wearing comfortable shoes, and, given the high turnout, booking the most popular seminars in advance.
