Quasi figura: the suspended identity of Enrica Passoni

Quasi figura is a solo exhibition by artist Enrica Passoni, who lives and works in Monza, set up at Tenuta Rasocolmo in Messina from May 23 to August 31, 2026. The exhibition, curated by art historian and critic Mariateresa Zagone, opens the Visual Arts and Contemporary Languages section of the Capo Rasocolmo Summer Fest, the summer event that has been enlivening the northern coast of the Sicilian city for several years by combining contemporary art, wine, and landscape.

The artist's research

Enrica Passoni's research begins with recognizable photographic images, which are progressively altered and subtracted until they lose stability and immediacy. The face, a central element in the construction of visual identity, is veiled, abraded, or erased, giving rise to ambiguous presences – the quasi figures – suspended between appearance and dissolution. It is a subtle investigation into the fragility of the image and the loss of recognizability of the contemporary subject.

The technique

The works are created from digital photographs printed on tissue paper and applied to wood, with subsequent interventions using pastels, gauze, and other materials. This layering gives the images a tactile and almost relic-like quality, where the surface becomes a place of transformation and memory. The result is a coherent body of work in which photography loses its objectivity to become painterly matter.

The Capo Rasocolmo Summer Fest

The exhibition is part of the Capo Rasocolmo Summer Fest program, the summer festival of the Tenuta Rasocolmo Winery & Art Resort that weaves together art and wine as symbols of Sicilian culture. The festival enriches Messina's summer cultural offerings with events ranging from visual arts to sunset dialogues, hosted in a scenic setting overlooking the sea of Capo Rasocolmo. The Visual Arts and Contemporary Languages section, curated by Mariateresa Zagone, offers a path dedicated to Sicilian and national contemporary art, understood as research in constant dialogue with the territory.

The exhibition is open until August 31, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The vernissage was held on May 23, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the estate, in the hamlet of Rasocolmo in northern Messina. Tenuta Rasocolmo is located in Contrada Rasocolmo, in the province of Messina, within the Sicily Region, and can be reached from the city by driving along the Tyrrhenian coast road.
