Prospettiva Danza Teatro is the international festival of contemporary dance and theatre in Padua, a project by the Municipality of Padua – Department of Culture. For several weeks in spring, the city becomes a reference point for authorial dance, welcoming national and international companies and choreographers.
The festival's venues
The performances take place in the city's main cultural venues: the Giuseppe Verdi Municipal Theatre, the Agorà of the Altinate San Gaetano Cultural Centre, the Eremitani Museum, and other spaces in the historic centre. The programme combines contemporary dance, physical theatre, performances, and site-specific projects, with a constant focus on research and new body languages.
The International Award
To crown the festival, the Prospettiva Danza Teatro International Award is presented annually, recognizing excellence in the contemporary choreographic scene. It is presented in the Ridotto Hall of the Verdi Theatre. This event confirms Padua's role, in Veneto, among the most active Italian cities in contemporary dance.
Prospettiva Danza Teatro — edition 2026
The XXVIII edition of Prospettiva Danza Teatro runs from March 21 to May 10, 2026, under the title "Voilà: between apparitions and enchantments". The festival, a project by the Municipality of Padua, features important national and international companies in the city's main venues: the Agorà of the Altinate-San Gaetano Cultural Centre, the Giuseppe Verdi Municipal Theatre, the Eremitani Museum, and the Alberto Peruzzo Foundation.
The festival concludes on Sunday, May 10, with the XVII edition of the Prospettiva Danza Teatro International Award, scheduled for 7:30 PM in the Ridotto Hall of the Verdi Theatre, dedicated to excellence in contemporary dance.
