About Processione dei Re Magi

On January 6th, Epiphany Day, in Montenero di Bisaccia, the procession of the Three Wise Men crosses the town to reach the Living Nativity scene set up in the sandstone caves. A evocative religious re-enactment that closes the long Christmas calendar 'Buon Natale Insieme', blending tradition, faith, and the unique atmosphere of the caves carved into the rock.

The Epiphany Procession

The Processione dei Re Magi (Procession of the Three Wise Men) is the re-enactment that, on Epiphany Day, concludes the Christmas calendar in Montenero di Bisaccia, in the province of Campobasso. The procession of the Magi crosses the town centre to reach the Presepe Vivente (Living Nativity scene) set up in the evocative sandstone caves.

Tradition and Faith

The procession is part of the 'Buon Natale Insieme' (Merry Christmas Together) program promoted by the Municipality and represents one of the most heartfelt moments of the Montenero festivities: the re-enactment of the journey of the Three Wise Men towards the Nativity, in a unique natural setting like that of the caves carved into the rock on which part of the town is built.

The Climax of Montenero's Christmas

With the Processione dei Re Magi, the long festive period concludes, which, since early December, has animated Montenero di Bisaccia with lights, a Christmas market, the living nativity scene, and concerts, in the heart of the Basso Molise region.

Processione dei Re Magi — edition 2026

The Processione dei Re Magi will return on January 6, 2027, in Montenero di Bisaccia, with the Epiphany procession reaching the Living Nativity scene in the sandstone caves, concluding the 'Buon Natale Insieme' Christmas calendar.

The next event for the Processione dei Re Magi is scheduled for January 6, 2027, in Montenero di Bisaccia. As per tradition, the procession of the Magi will cross the town to reach the Presepe Vivente (Living Nativity scene) in the sandstone caves, closing the Municipality's 'Buon Natale Insieme' calendar. (The Epiphany 2026 edition took place on January 6, 2026.)

Programme Processione dei Re Magi 2026
