About Notte nel Borgo Antico
The village that comes alive
The Notte nel Borgo Antico is one of the most cherished summer events in Montenero di Bisaccia, in the province of Campobasso. Organized by the Pro Loco Frentana with the patronage of the Municipality, since 2005 it has enlivened the historic centre of the village for two evenings, one of the four municipalities in Molise overlooking the Adriatic.
A journey into memory
Along the streets and squares of the village — from Piazza della Libertà (known to locals as 'Prtall') to Via Regina Elena and Via Regina Margherita — visitors encounter folk songs and dances, theatrical performances, local historical notes, craft stalls, and gastronomic specialities served by volunteers. For the occasion, historically closed sites are opened: Porta Nuova, Porta Mancina, and the ancient underground oil mill of Palazzo Iavicoli.
Tradition and community
The event involves the entire community, with middle school students acting as guides on the historical tours. An event that intertwines identity, tradition, and conviviality in the heart of Basso Molise.
Notte nel Borgo Antico — edition 2026
In 2026, the Notte nel Borgo Antico will once again animate the historic centre of Montenero di Bisaccia for two evenings, following the 20 editions celebrated in 2025. The established formula is confirmed: a route through the alleys with folk songs and dances, visits to historical sites (Porta Nuova, Porta Mancina, underground oil mill of Palazzo Iavicoli), craft stalls, and local specialities curated by the Pro Loco Frentana.
Programme Notte nel Borgo Antico 2026
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Pro Loco Frentana as part of the Summer Montenerese schedule. The usual structure includes two evenings starting around 7:00 PM: a guided tour of the village, folk songs and dances, musical performances near the communal villa, visits to historical sites, and food stalls with local specialities.

How to get there
Montenero di Bisaccia (CB) is reachable from the A14 motorway (exit Montenero di Bisaccia-Vasto Sud) and the SS16 Adriatica. The event takes place in the historic centre.
