Procession of the Wheat Sheaves (Wheat Festival)

In 2025, the Wheat Festival once again filled the streets of Panni, in the Monti Dauni in the province of Foggia, on the day of the Assumption. From the early hours of the morning, the village came alive with the reenactment of ancient "arts and crafts" and demonstrations of the wheat harvesting phases. The central moment was the procession of the "salme" of wheat—the sheaves loaded onto carts and brought as a gift to the Madonna del Bosco—accompanied by donkeys adorned with wheat and the sound of the zampogna. The day closed, as tradition dictates, with the cavalcade of horsemen through the village streets.

August 15th, 2025 — The Day

• Morning — Reenactment of ancient "arts and crafts" and demonstration of wheat harvesting phases
• Parade of carts decorated with wheat and donkeys adorned with wheat, with participants in period costumes
• Procession of the wheat "salme" offered to the Madonna del Bosco, accompanied by the sound of the zampogna
• Final cavalcade of horsemen through the village streets to close the festivities
