The great travelling festival of the Canavese Pro Loco associations
Pro Loco in Festa is a travelling event that selects a different town in the Canavese region each year to host dozens of local associations. Rather than a static fair, it is a rotating celebration: each edition is hosted by a different Pro Loco, creating a relay that strengthens the bonds between the area's small communities. In 2026, the honour of hosting the festival went to Vestignè, a town of just over seven hundred inhabitants in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, which took the opportunity to celebrate an important milestone: the 30th anniversary of its local Pro Loco.
The heart of Pro Loco in Festa has always been its gastronomy. In Vestignè, seventeen Pro Loco associations from the Canavese area participated, each with its own stand offering specialties for the public to taste: a true journey through the flavours of neighbouring villages, from traditional peasant dishes to the most characteristic recipes of each hamlet. Alongside the food and wine offerings, the day was enlivened by live music, exhibitions, and entertainment for all ages.
The Vestignè edition featured an exhibition of wood sculptures and a painting display, as well as a walk to the nearby Castello di Masino, one of the most evocative historic residences in the Canavese. The musical programme brought various local bands to the square, while children enjoyed inflatables, games, and dedicated entertainment.
Pro Loco in Festa is organised by the host Pro Loco with the support of the Municipality and the associations of the Canavese. It is a concrete example of how local volunteering keeps traditions alive and creates opportunities for connection: every year the festival changes venue, involving new communities while maintaining the spirit of collaboration that defines it. An unmissable event for those who want to discover the most genuine side of the towns in the Province of Turin.
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, Vestignè hosted Pro Loco in Festa, simultaneously celebrating the 30th anniversary of its local Pro Loco. Seventeen Pro Loco associations from the Canavese territory took part in the event (including Azeglio, Bollengo, Borgofranco, Burolo, Cascinette, Cossano, Fiorano, Parella, Quassolo, Samone, San Bernardo, Scarmagno, Settimo Rottaro, Strambino, Torre Canavese, Trausella, and the Vestignè Pro Loco), each showcasing their own culinary specialties. The day featured live music, an exhibition of wood sculptures, a walk to the Castello di Masino, a painting exhibition, and numerous activities for children.
The event was organised by the Pro Loco of Vestignè with the support of the Municipality, Unpli Torino, Unpli Piemonte, the Civil Protection, and local institutions.
Vestignè is located in the Canavese region, in the north-east of the Metropolitan City of Turin, near Ivrea. By car, it can be reached via the A5 Turin-Aosta motorway (Ivrea exit), then continuing towards Strambino and Vestignè. The reference railway station is Ivrea, on the Turin-Aosta line.
Admission to the event is free. Gastronomic specialties are offered at the stands of the participating Pro Loco associations, with food and drinks available for purchase on-site.
As this is a travelling festival, it is advisable to check the host town and the updated programme each year through the Canavese Pro Loco associations or the website of the municipality involved.
