A classical and symphonic music festival in the heart of the Primiero Dolomites
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Primiero Dolomiti Festival is a concert series curated by the Scuola Musicale di Primiero Association, which brings the Primiero San Martino di Castrozza area and the Primiero and Vanoi valleys in Trentino-Alto Adige to life every year. The event brings great classical and symphonic music to the foot of the Pale di San Martino, held in parish churches, auditoriums, and municipal halls, with a program that unfolds primarily between late autumn and the Christmas festive period.
The festival is not tied to a single venue but travels through the various villages of the district, showcasing spaces such as the Intermunicipal Auditorium of Fiera di Primiero, the churches of Canal San Bovo and Imèr, and other local community venues. The events range from orchestral concerts to choral evenings, and from instrumental ensembles of the Music School to local brass and folk bands, creating a blend of professional performances and local musical traditions.
Over the years, the festival has hosted major orchestral groups, including the Orchestra DoLaMiTi, founded as a youth orchestra from Belluno and artistically directed by Matteo Andri, and the Orchestra Sinfonica delle Alpi, the star of the New Year's Eve Grand Concert. The program also includes moments dedicated to sacred music, such as the Mass for Saint Cecilia, patron saint of music, featuring local parish choirs and ensembles.
The heart of the festival is the New Year's Eve Grand Concert, held at the Intermunicipal Auditorium of Fiera di Primiero to welcome the new year with the most celebrated pieces of the symphonic repertoire, from overtures to traditional Viennese waltzes. This is the only ticketed event of the festival, while other concerts are generally free or based on voluntary donations.
The Primiero Dolomiti Festival is an expression of the vibrant cultural life of Primiero and offers both residents and holidaymakers in the Dolomites the chance to experience high-quality music in a charming alpine setting. The festival testifies to the deep roots of the Scuola Musicale di Primiero and its role in the education and promotion of musical culture in this corner of eastern Trentino.
At the moment, the Scuola Musicale di Primiero Association has not yet published the full calendar for the 2026 edition of the Primiero Dolomiti Festival. Following the custom of recent editions, the festival is expected to take place between autumn and the Christmas period, with sacred music events, orchestral concerts, and the traditional New Year's Eve Grand Concert in Fiera di Primiero. The detailed program will be announced by the organizers in the months preceding the events.
Concerts take place in various venues across the Primiero San Martino di Castrozza district (TN), including the Intermunicipal Auditorium of Fiera di Primiero and the parish churches of the Primiero and Vanoi valleys.
By car, Primiero can be reached via the Valsugana (SS47) or the Passo Rolle. By train, the reference station is Feltre (BL), which is connected to the Primiero valleys by a bus service.
Most concerts have free admission or are based on voluntary donations; the New Year's Eve Grand Concert requires an entrance ticket. Information is available from the Scuola Musicale di Primiero Association and the San Martino di Castrozza, Passo Rolle, Primiero and Vanoi Tourist Board.
