Music, theatre, cinema, and literature at the Teatro di Fiesole
Primavera Fiesolana is the festival that brings the Teatro di Fiesole to life every April, in the town of Fiesole, in the province of Florence. Conceived as a temporal extension of the historic Estate Fiesolana โ considered Italy's longest-running open-air festival โ the event creates a cultural continuum that guides the city from spring into summer, set in one of Tuscany's most evocative and historically rich villages.
The hallmark of Primavera Fiesolana is its hybrid nature: over just a few weeks, the stage hosts a rotating selection of singer-songwriter concerts, jazz nights, theatrical performances, social monologues, film-concerts, literary presentations, and scientific outreach talks. It is a formula that speaks to a curious and diverse audience, capable of moving from music to quantum physics, from cinema to poetry, within the intimate and welcoming space of the Fiesole theatre.
Each edition brings together prominent figures from Italian culture: legendary songwriters, actors, writers, journalists, pianists, and science communicators. The Teatro di Fiesole, immersed in the greenery of the hills overlooking Florence, offers an intimate and charming setting, perfect for performances that centre on the spoken word, music, and direct engagement with the audience.
Attending a show at Primavera Fiesolana is also the perfect opportunity to discover Fiesole, an ancient Etruscan and Roman city that dominates the Arno valley from above. Between the archaeological site, the panoramic views of Florence, and the cozy atmosphere of the village, the festival combines high-quality artistic programming with the pleasure of an evening in one of the iconic spots of the Florentine hills.
In the rich cultural landscape of Florence, Primavera Fiesolana has carved out a precise identity: a few carefully curated evenings that focus on the quality of the guests and the direct connection with the audience. The intimate size of the theatre allows you to experience every performance up close, while the variety of the programme โ from concerts to social monologues, from film-concerts to literary encounters โ makes each edition a small journey through different languages. It is an ideal festival for those seeking an authentic cultural experience, far from mass crowds and close to the word and music, in the unique setting of the hills overlooking Florence.
The third edition of Primavera Fiesolana was held at the Teatro di Fiesole from 8 to 21 April 2026, with ten evenings ranging from singer-songwriter music to social theatre, jazz to cinema, and literature to scientific outreach. A rich programme, built around great protagonists of the Italian cultural scene.
Among the most anticipated moments: the opening with Eugenio Finardi and his 50-year career, the theatrical evening with Chiara Francini playing Franca Rame, the dialogue between Ferruccio De Bortoli and Ramin Bahrami, and the two film-concerts dedicated to Pino Daniele and Queen.
The Teatro di Fiesole is located at Largo Piero Farulli 1, in Fiesole (FI). From Florence, it can be reached by bus via ATAF line no. 7 (Fiesole terminus) or by car driving up towards the hills; parking is available nearby.
Tickets for individual shows are available for purchase online via Ticketone and BoxOfficeToscana, as well as at the theatre box office. Advance booking is recommended due to the limited seating capacity of the venue.
The festival takes place during the month of April, with events spread over approximately two weeks.
