The gala evening celebrating Apulian excellence on the Monopoli seafront
The Premio Il Gozzo – City of Monopoli is one of the most anticipated summer events in Monopoli, located in the Province of Bari, in the heart of the Adriatic Puglia region. Established in 2005 and reaching its twentieth edition in 2025, the award honors the men and women who, through their talent and dedication, promote the name of the Apulian territory in Italy and around the world.
The event takes its name from the gozzo, the traditional fishing boat that embodies the maritime identity of Monopoli: a symbol that anchors the award to the roots and values of the local community.
The heart of the event is Cala Batteria, a stunning spot overlooking the Adriatic Sea that hosts the awards stage every year. The evening combines the presentation of the awards with high-quality entertainment, featuring live music from orchestras and big bands, alongside appearances by well-known figures from Italian comedy and television.
The hosting and artistic direction, entrusted to historical figures of the event, guide the audience through the various award categories, balancing emotion, irony, and lightheartedness in a unique summer setting.
Each year, the Premio Il Gozzo presents awards in several categories that showcase the richness of the Apulian landscape:
The event is organized by the broadcaster Canale 7 with the support of the Municipal Administration of Monopoli, the Puglia Region, and the collaboration of the Southern Adriatic Sea Port Authority. Admission is free, with reservation required, reflecting the inclusive and popular spirit of an award that has become a symbol of Apulian pride over the years.
