About Praiano White Night

The Praiano White Night transforms this Amalfi Coast village into an open-air stage. From evening until late at night, Piazza San Luca, Piazza San Gennaro, and Via Gennaro Capriglione come alive with live concerts, street performers, participatory dance, and food tastings. It is a free summer event, beloved by locals and visitors alike, inviting everyone to explore the town at unusual hours and from a different perspective, amidst the sea, lights, and music.

A summer night in an Amalfi Coast village

The Praiano White Night is one of the most anticipated summer events in the municipality of Praiano, in the province of Salerno, in the heart of the Amalfi Coast (Campania). For one night, the town stays awake until the small hours: squares become stages, alleys fill with music, and local businesses stay open well beyond their usual hours. The underlying concept, reiterated by organizers every year, is simple: to experience Praiano "at different hours and from a new perspective."

The squares take center stage

The event unfolds along the axis connecting the town's two historic hubs: Piazza San Luca, in the center of Praiano, and Piazza San Gennaro, in the Vettica Maggiore district, linked by Via Gennaro Capriglione. It is this very route, overlooking the sea and the horizon stretching from Positano to Capri, that becomes one large open-air stage. Participants don't stay in one spot; they walk from square to square following the music, with each stop offering a different artistic experience.

Live music, dance, and street art

The program of recent editions has combined diverse genres and disciplines with a recognizable format:

  • Concerts in Piazza San Luca: The main stage has hosted popular tribute bands, such as the Pink Floyd tribute band in 2024 and the Electric Jam Pino Daniele tribute band in 2025, featuring blues, funk, and Mediterranean sounds.
  • Itinerant music along Via Gennaro Capriglione, featuring small acoustic ensembles: in 2025, the violin and guitar duo "Sviolinando" by Giuseppe Noto and Alfonso Dolgetta.
  • Street performers parading toward Vettica Maggiore, animating the route between the two squares during the middle of the night.
  • "Danziamo in tutte le lingue del mondo" (Let's dance in all the languages of the world), the participatory dance project created by Mariagrazia Lettieri: in Piazza San Gennaro, there are no spectators, only people dancing together in a collective choreography open to all ages.
  • Live art: caricaturists, body painting, and on-site installations that showcase the artists' work as it is being created.
  • DJ sets until late at night, with a long dance session traditionally closing the evening.

Flavors and solidarity

Alongside the performances, the White Night has always had a strong gastronomic component: tastings and stands managed by local businesses, featuring coastal cuisine and local products. In 2025, the tastings were organized by the Parish of San Luca, with proceeds donated to the "Praiano Salute" charity project, confirming an event that is born from the community and remains deeply rooted in the town.

August in Praiano: a month of festivities

The White Night is not an isolated event, but the most festive moment of a particularly rich summer calendar. At the beginning of August, Praiano celebrates the Luminaria di San Domenico, with lights illuminating the path leading to the Santa Maria a Castro convent, accompanied by processions and fireworks over the sea. Throughout the summer, there are also dawn concerts, children's festivals in the squares, and events linked to the patron saint feasts of San Luca and San Gennaro. Those choosing Praiano in August will find much more than just one evening.

A free event for everyone

Admission to all White Night performances is free of charge. The widespread format, with multiple entertainment points close to each other, makes it suitable for families: you can choose how long to stay, switch squares, stop for a bite to eat, and continue your walk. This is perhaps the reason for its success: in an Amalfi Coast often experienced in a rush, the White Night restores the slow pace of a village festival to Praiano, with the artistic quality of a professional event.

Praiano White Night — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Praiano White Night has not yet been officially announced. In recent seasons, the event has taken place in August, enlivening Piazza San Luca, Via Gennaro Capriglione, and Piazza San Gennaro with concerts, street performers, participatory dance, and tastings. The date and program will be published by the Municipality of Praiano and the local Amalfi Coast press: this page will be updated as soon as information is confirmed.

At the moment, there is no official announcement regarding the 2026 Praiano White Night: neither the date nor the program has been released by the Municipality or the Amalfi Coast press. However, the event is a recurring fixture of the Praiano summer calendar, confirmed in previous seasons in mid-August.

The 2026 summer calendar of the Municipality of Praiano, in the province of Salerno, includes several already announced events, from the Luminaria di San Domenico in early August to the evenings of the "L'Estate dei Bambini" (Children's Summer) festival in the town squares. For the White Night, it is worth keeping an eye on the official municipal channels and local press in the weeks leading up to Ferragosto.
